tHE PERFECT PISTOL SHOT BLOG
Ammunition manufacturers have done a wonderful job over the last few years, designing bullets that expand better with less energy. The beauty of this advancement is that it renews the credibility of great old calibers like .38 special and 9mm. There was never anything wrong with either of those stalwarts but the gun culture loves to declare the next "best thing" as much as they love to declare somethings obsolete. In guns, there is a tendency to either venerate the old, or worship the new. Over the decades, a lot of babies have been tossed out with a whole lot of bath water. The great thing about the .38 special is the variety of available bullets, low recoil, usually low cost, and remarkable accuracy. Ditto the 9mm. So before you settle on your next pistol or revolver, take a look at what ammo is being offered. You may do just as well with an older caliber, and save yourself a little money at the same time.
